Summary / Abstract (Note)A nation's security may be at risk in many different ways. Natural disasters and emergencies, such as severe weather and flooding are indiscriminate their impact. Additionally, man-made security threats, such as war, terrorism and organized crime, are varied, innovative and often designed to cause maximum disruption by breaching social norms in terms of target and method. A nation has at its disposal a whole raft of tools to reduce the risks associated with the threats and hazards it faces
