Summary / Abstract (Note)The people's republic of china is fast becoming the dark continent's biggest trading partner and foreign investor.This paper examines the economic and political consequences of Beijing's involvement with Africa.It explains how China's foreign policy and economic needs have brought it to the continent and whether the Africans benefit from the new relationship.It concluds with some policy prescriptions for the Africans in dealing with the far eastern giant.
