Summary / Abstract (Note)This essay traces the moments of transgressions of colonial binaries flying at the face of the canons of Pakistani art history. The transition of MSA's emphasis from state authorities craft to an independent fine arts curriculum and individual artisans/craftmen of the school emerging as painters and sculptors are the cultural signposts of the process of contestation of colonial binarism and nationalist readings.
