Summary / Abstract (Note) | Despite the cuts demanded by the Strategic Defence and Security Review, Britain will maintain its global role in defence, albeit at a lower level. But cost and budget pressures have exposed serious economic inefficiencies in commissioning and acquisition practices. Ultimately, the review has protected service budgets, rather than conducted a wholesale reappraisal of defence ways and means. |
