Summary / Abstract (Note) | The possibility (advisability, feasibility, desirability, etc.) of Russia joining NATO has been the subject of widespread discussion among Western politicians and scholars in the last 18 months, however, this issue is no longer on the agenda today. The discussion was purely speculative from the very beginning: it did not imply any practical conclusions or the drafting of a "road map," although the tone of some statements created the impression that Moscow had already applied for NATO membership and was patiently waiting for a decision. |
