Summary / Abstract (Note) | The United Kingdom has been involved in Afghanistan operations since 2001, fighting what has been explicitly described as a 'war' in that country since 2006. By any definition, this represents a major military commitment and may come to be seen as a turning point in the UK's post-Cold War defence policy. There is great political controversy over the origins of the UK's involvement in this war and the way it has been fought. |
