Summary / Abstract (Note)IN THE LAST DECADE, Pakistan remained one of the most active geopolitical players in Afghanistan, which figured prominently in the twists and turns of armed struggle and politics of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (IRA). Islamabad has been and remains the key element of the "Afghan game" not only because of its traditional weight with the Taliban but also because the Western counterterrorist coalition is fighting in a landlocked country.
