Summary / Abstract (Note) | The process of EOD, UXO, and decommissioning is slow, expensive, and dangerous. Well-experienced personnel, mission-oriented tactics, and advanced equipment are needed to remove either landmines or improvised explosives from often difficult terrain. The great challenge is to reduce the time it takes them to find, identify, eliminate or decommission dangerous explosives in a responsible manner. This is a principle that is shared by many nations, also requiring sophisticated industrial demilitarisation capabilities. |
