Summary / Abstract (Note) | The author examines the main development trends of the Russian Far East federal entities. The comparative data on the Chukotka Autonomous Region and the Jewish Autonomous Region, as well as Khabarovsk Territory, cited in the article confirm paradoxical trends - namely, that the southern entities of the Russian Far East situated in the most favorable climatic conditions on the border with rapidly developing countries and having more diversified and innovative economies are inferior to the northern regions in terms of economic efficiency.
