Summary / Abstract (Note)This paper is a humble attempt to critically examine the strategic issues involved in the domain of sustainable development, as far as the whole world is concerned and the role of India in that context. As a matter of fact, the models of development followed across the globe give importance to economy at the cost of ecology and the unmindful utilization of natural resources, i.e. forest, river, water, soil, clean air, which is massive loss to human civilization, particularly its future generation. This is not only a problem for the western developed countries but also the developing countries are going to be equally affected by this process. As a result of which, the impact of climate change is clearly visible on this earth.
