Summary / Abstract (Note) | India – both British India and Indian political leaders – had enjoyed good relations with Chiang Kai-Shek and his government of China, the predecessor of revolutionary communist government. In fact, Nehru visited China in 1939 and established friendship with Chiang Kai-Shek and his wife. Nehru wanted to spend a month or so in China. However, during his stay in China, war broke out in Europe and Nehru had to return home spending only a little over a week or so in China. |
