Summary / Abstract (Note) | This exhibition is Tate Britain’s contribution to the range of events taking place to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. It explores the impact of the First World War on the art of Britain, France and Germany between 1916 and 1932. It shows how Western artists attempted to explore and process the powerful psychological trauma of those who survived the war, through differing approaches, media and subject matter, and how Western art was affected.
