| Summary / Abstract (Note) | In 1993 Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) signed the Oslo Accords, in which the PLO recognized the state of Israel, and thus accepted the legitimacy of Israeli sovereignty over 78% of the historical land of Palestine. In return Israel gave nothing except recognition of the PLO as the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. |
