Summary / Abstract (Note)This paper analyzes the current state of trade and economic relations between Japan and the ASEAN countries. A comprehensive analysis is performed of the main forms of economic ties between the countries - trade, investment, and the Official Development Aid Program - in the first two decades of the 21st century. The latest statistical data from original Japanese sources are presented for 2017. Japan's key partners among the ASEAN countries are identified for each of the three main lines of economic cooperation, and the latest relevant trends of its current state and development are determined. We also analyze the 21st century's most relevant and active formats of multilateral cooperation between Japan and ASEAN.
