Summary / Abstract (Note) | This article seeks to understand why India may have decided to withdraw from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) as was announced at the third RCEP summit meeting held in Bangkok on 4 November 2019. It also examines briefly the possible implications of this decision, particularly in the present context of looming challenges on the international trade front. It explores possible options for India and what its priorities could be. Finally, in the event that there may be a re-consideration by India about joining RCEP, what could be some of the guiding elements? |
