Summary / Abstract (Note)This paper refutes the widely circulated myths and speculation about the early period of the Great Patriotic War, such as the Red Army dramatically weakened by Stalin's purges, intelligence reports ignored, the troops belatedly brought on high alert, etc. The authors show that the stubborn resistance of the Soviet troops frustrated every single objective of the German troops under the Barbarossa plan.
