Summary / Abstract (Note)An assertive China against an economically rising and digitally driving India will continue to influence the power equations in South Asia for some time only. Given its close relationship with Pakistan, recent attempt to build a relationship with the Taliban etc shows its determination to increase its influence in South Asia. India in turn is now engaged in creating long-term relationships with its neighbours. India is attempting to expand the areas of cooperation with its neighbours. This spirit of India is manifested in its relationship with Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s example shows how India can build a friendly relationship with its neighbour despite China’s economic heavy hand. India aspires to be a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025. Bangladesh too aspires to become an upper-middle-income country by the year 2031.
