Summary / Abstract (Note) | Since its conceptualisation defence diplomacy is yet to evolve a universal model applicable to all countries as the problems and resources of nations are not uniform But it is a potential tool for reducing armed conflict specifically in the Indian context . India has preferred diplomacy to war in resolving some of the burning issues that impair its security. Involving the defence sector has been within the democratic framework of civilian control. Moreover, Indian ancient literature is replete with the art of kingship and conduct of relationship with other countries. Of specific importance is the Arthashastra which underscores diplomacy in building alliances to prevent the enemy from achieving its goal. |
