Summary / Abstract (Note)THE concept of nation-building has always been a focus of attention, but it attracted the particular interest of researchers in the 20th century amid the development of Third World countries and the desire of new states to expand their powers within a certain territory. This issue was particularly acute in the area of decolonization, but after the US withdrew from Indochina and this process came to an end, the debate on "nation-building" lost its appeal both in international relations and in academia.
