This paper traces and analyzes the main stages, trends and forms in the development of bilateral cooperation in the cinematic arena between the U.S.S.R./Russia and the People's Republic of China over the last 70 years.
It is pointed out that each of the stages introduced qualitatively new elements into the cultural interaction of the two countries using the potential of cinema, the most popular of arts. Cooperation between the two countries in cinema rests today on the experience accumulated during all this time and creates a solid foundation for its furthering.
