Summary / Abstract (Note)Ray Forrest - Ray Forrest is Professor of Urban Studies and Associate Director of the Centre for East Asian Studies at the University of Bristol, UK. He is co-director (with Professor Ade Kearns, University of Glasgow) of the ESRC Centre for Neighbourhood Research. He is currently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Urban Studies, University of Glasgow and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Public and Social Administration at the City University of Hong Kong. He is also a founding member and on the steering group of the Asia Pacific Network of Housing Researchers. He has published extensively on urban and housing issues in academic journals, books and policy reports. Current research interests focus on the role and meaning of neighbourhood in the contemporary city; housing markets, the macro economy and globalization; housing and social stratification.; Ngai-Ming Yip - Ngai-ming Yip is Associate Professor in the Department of Public and Social Administration, City University of Hong Kong. He is a registered social worker and a registered professional housing manager as well as member of the executive committee of the Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch. His research interests focus on the neighbourhood in the contemporary city, housing and social stratification and the social implication of housing management. He has published on housing, urban and social issues in academic journals and books. His current research projects include a comparative study on private housing governance in three Chinese cities and comparing housing policy between China and Vietnam.
