Summary / Abstract (Note) | Until the 18th century, massive development in weaponry systms, with major advances in military technologies, took place. With the begining of the 20th century, the world witnessed two great wars, World War I and World War II, the bloodiest wars in the annals of modern warfare. World War I introduced many unconventional weapons and unleashed a torrent of lethality with the introduction of machine guns, poisonous gas, mustard gas, tanks, submarines and barbed wires. |
