Summary / Abstract (Note)Picked up from some unknown extra aryan origin and assililated into the ever evolving Hindu pantheon, the icon of Kali continues to remain the most enigmatic figure of the Hindu mythography to this day. There are enormous symbolic potentials inherent in the cult itself, which can be manipulated in a hundred ways to fulfil both aesthetic and extra-aesthetic purposes.
