Summary / Abstract (Note)When I first went to China in 1926, piracy was quite a common occurrence. The men controlling the pirates worked from Hong Kong, though the actual pirates themselves worked from Bias Bay, the next bay north-east of the Hong Kong territory, the whole of which was in Chinese hands. The practice was for the pirates to join a ship at Shanghai or another coastal port and take over the ship just before it got to Bias Bay.
