Summary / Abstract (Note)Induced pluripotent stem cells are one of the hottest topics in medicine today. Expectations are rising for the use of iPS cells in regenerative medicine, and research is being carried out aggressively. Professor Yamanaka's team at Kyoto University led the world in successfully creating iPS cells in November 2007. He is now working to create a more open research environment like that in the United States and thinking about ways for Japan to get talented young people to pursue careers in science and technology
