| Summary / Abstract (Note) | On top of that, Afghanistan will go to the polls in presidential elections in August 2009 (for the second time in the history of the Islamic Republic). In March 2009, too, Russia and Afghanistan marked a symbolic date, 90 years of diplomatic relations between the two states. Thus, there is every reason to talk about both the preliminary results of yet another attempt to democratize Afghanistan and Russia's place in present-day international policies in connection with Afghanistan. |
