Summary / Abstract (Note)Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) was officially established on 14 May 1948 when the State of Israel was proclaimed, but extensive diplomatic activity conducted by the Zionist movement and the Jewish Agency preceded its official debut. The authorized body that existed previously-the political department-served as the template for the MFA.
