Summary / Abstract (Note) | Pakistan's defence industry is increasingly successful and might expand its capabilities and technological base, but the country will remain dependent on foreign suppliers for modern equipment for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, Pakistan follow a diversification strategy based on two strength: first Islamabad seeks to strengthen ties with two core countries such as the US and China; and, second Pakistan aims at foreign relations with a host of (mainly) Muslim nations such as Turkey, Nigeria and Indonesia to further enhance its strategy, since the country remains weary of the possibility of sanctions and military embargoes. |
