Summary / Abstract (Note) | One of the most important factors influencing the development of a modern combat aircraft is an in depth analysis of the threats the plane will be expected to face while performing its intended missions, and thus an accurate assessment of its survivability characteristics and requirements in a hostile environment. Despite the traditional importance of advanced flight performance characteristics, and despite today's emphasis on stealth features in modern military air warfare the survivability of combat aircraft and helicopters remain largely dependent on their self protection system, and the way this system interfaces and interacts with the entire avionics architecture (Radar, Communication, Fire Control Systems, etc.). |
