Summary / Abstract (Note) | According to the USAF, 90% of all US air combat losses over the last 25 years can be attributed to IR guided missiles. Most combat aircraft carry flares and IR jammers to defeat this threat, but Directed IR Countermeasures (DIRCM) systems are more commonly being. Used in many cases, they are replacing these older systems. As a result over the last decade, the number of DIRCM systems on the market has exploded. |
