Summary / Abstract (Note)The article reports on the efforts of the U.S. Armed Forces to reduce energy consumption in land, sea and air through technologies and equipment. The U.S. military is increasingly using more efficient propulsion systems for ground vehicles and weapons platforms. Energy efficiency in shelter systems and forward operating base power systems are also being given more emphasis. The U.S. Armed Forces is also using a hybrid electric drive system to support the Ground Combat Vehicle program.
