| Summary / Abstract (Note) | The author examines the proceedings of the 18th CPC Congress and China's development plans for the 12th five-year period (2011 to 2015) and draws the conclusion that the next few years will be the most significant period in the country's ambitious efforts to build a "moderate prosperity society" (xiaokang) by 2020. To achieve this goal, China will have to double its GDP by 2020. |
