Summary / Abstract (Note) | Uzbekistan's decision to suspend its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization has sparked another round of debates about the CSTO's efficiency. But even without Tashkent's decision, there has long been the need to consider how things stand in the former Soviet Union twenty years after the breakup of the once-unified state. In addition to a heaping pile of geopolitical problems, there is a major factor of personal relationships among the leaders of the countries that have emerged in place of the USSR. |
