His conquests included, from west to east, the Balkans (former Yugoslavia), Anatolia (Turkey), Egypt, Gaza, Phoenicia (Lebanon), Judea (Israel and Jordan), the Levant (Syria), Mesopotamia and Babylonia (Iraq), Persia (Iran) and Bactria (Afghanistan). His empire extended as far as the Hindukush mountains. |
