Summary / Abstract (Note) | Recently, I had the opportunity to listen to the farewell remark of a senior Marine officer. Many of his thoughts were the sort of things one might expect of a departing officer- some advice, a little retrospective on his command, and the like. What colored his remarks the most, though, was nostalgia. Nostalgia for Marines of 20 years ago who did what they were told without question. Nostalgia for days of moral clarity in the military. Nostalgia for a time that the corps and the military were better. |
