Summary / Abstract (Note) | The three regions of J&K, viz; Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have responded differentially to their political urges to change the political status quo in the state. The Jammu region voted for BJP, Kashmir went for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ladakh, although with a very thin margin (35 votes), voted for the BJP. It may be mentioned that the BJP candidate in Ladakh defeated his nearest rival who was contesting as an independent candidate and did not belong to any political party. However, it indicates that the voting population there went with the candidate with a clear political ideology and a definite political manifesto. |
