Summary / Abstract (Note) | When infantry soldiers carry loads, manipulate equipment and weapons and traverse terrain, they exhibit flexibility, range and endurance in combinations as yet unmatched by any vehicle. However, the rate at which soldiers are invalided out of armies by musculo-skeletal injuries indicates that physical demands placed on their bodies are approaching and often exceeding what they can reasonably be expected to withstand. |
