Summary / Abstract (Note) | A brief historical review of research to assess the comprehensive national power (CNP) of the world's leading countries is presented. Special attention is given to works by Chinese analysts whose conclusions serve as important assistance in elaborating national strategies of development. The current state and predicted dynamics of the main CNP components are examined: the armed forces and future economic growth of China, particularly in the light of competition from the United States for regional and global supremacy. |
