Summary / Abstract (Note) | For the second time in a row, Airbus’s A330 MRTT (multi role tanker transport) programme has been cancelled by the defence ministry. This latest decision comes at a time when the Indian Air Force (IAF) is urgently looking to induct more mid-air tankers that will enormously augment its aerial combat capabilities. The government had previously cancelled the A330 MRTT programme due to the high pricing, and reissued a tender in September 2010, which was again won by Airbus in January 2013. |
