Summary / Abstract (Note)The author examines the economic influence of Chinese living abroad (huaqiao) on the regions of the PRC and Pakistan through which the southern branch of the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) will pass. The territorial structure of investments, the branch structure of huaqiao companies, the branch structure of the economy of cities and companies on the Chinese section of the SREB southern branch, as well as the branch structure of Chinese enterprises in Pakistan are examined. The author assesses the huaqiao's ability to influence the construction of the SREB southern branch.
