Summary / Abstract (Note)The sustainable development framework came to the fore-front of the international policy making during the 1987 at the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development. This Commission which is popularly known as the Brundtland Commission established the need for sustainable development as against the dominant model of development that was not sensitive to the needs and conservation of the environment.
