Summary / Abstract (Note) | Water is a resource essential for existence of life on the planet. With over 97 % of water available on Earth being unfit for human consumption, it is a very precious resource. Increasing population is leading to heavy increase in demand for water and it is increasingly becoming a cause of conflict amongst nations. Closer home in India, we have only 4% of world’s renewable water whereas our population is over 18% of the world population. Agriculture in India is heavily dependent either on river water except during monsoon season. |
