| Summary / Abstract (Note) | In this study, the challenges and opportunities of water resources development and management in the Abbay basin had been critically analyzed. To this effect, case study research design and relevant theories of water resources management had been employed. The finding showed that first and second order scarcity of water resources, trans-boundary nature of the river, lack of adequate and relevant information; economic and legal challenges, domination of sectoral and project based approach and lack of capacity are factors which have been posing significant challenges to water resources management and development in the Abbay basin. |
