Summary / Abstract (Note)India’s aspiration to restructure its external engagement by introducing meaningful changes in domestic as well as foreign policy is reflected in its policy postures taken up by the new government led by PM Narendra Modi. On foreign policy front, India has introduced several pragmatic policies in a swift succession. Transforming its relations with great powers like the United States of America, Japan and China, according paramount importance to its South Asian neighbours, resurrecting its ties with East Asian neighbours and leading from the front at international fora show that India’s foreign policy will no longer be a ceremonial affair but a proactive engagement.
