AuthorKunuroglu, Filiz ;  Vijver, Fons J R van de ;  Yagmur, Kutlay
Summary / Abstract (Note)This article investigates the perceptions of mainstream Turks in Turkey towards Turkish (re)migrants from West European countries. It seeks to gain insight into themes and issues emerging in the cultural contact of (re)migrants with Turks back in Turkey and to elucidate the dimensions of the perceived stigmatization of Turkish (re)migrants. By using an original survey instrument, the items of which were generated based on the semi-structured interviews with 53 informants, data were collected from 606 Turkish informants. Based on the survey results, a model was developed and validated. The results of the study are discussed within the frameworks of intergroup relations and social categorization of the social identity approach.
