Summary / Abstract (Note) | Ever since Myanmar got independence in 1948, there has been perpetual crisis of governance with brief interludes of democracy and development. The State saw a long tussle between civilian and military leadership, and the later has dominated in the politics of State. Myanmar is yet to establish liberal democracy with a robust constitution which could have sustained over the last seventy years of its existence. The Military, formally known as Tatmadaw in Myanmar, has been at the helm of affairs and continues to be the most powerful institutuon. |
