Summary/Abstract The Sub-group W20 under India’s G20 Presidency focussed upon removing barriers to women-led development and economic empowerment of women.The policy narratives assert that digital revolution and adoption of digital economy is transforming the lives of people, including the vulnerable sections globally. The NITI Aayog report indicates that in 2020-2021 more than 7.5 million workers were engaged in the Gig economy in India and women’s participation in the Gig economy has risen from 27% to 36% (NITI Aayog, 2022). Though, the participation of women is still low compared to men in the Gig economy yet, the upsurge of women workers indicates towards the future trends in Indian Market. This article looks into the opportunities and challenges of Gig Women workers and the need to bridge gender gaps in Labour force participation for fostering sustainable social and economic development.
