Tripathi , Sudhanshu Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The current situation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is particularly grave as Russia continues to threaten the western powers to exercise its nuclear option if they continue providing support to Kyiv. And that makes India’s position very problematic as to how to respond to seek cessation of hostilities between the two belligerents and at the same time continue balancing its equally meaningful good relations with Russia, on the one hand and the US, on the other as both the erstwhile super powers have now become the prominent bete-noires or big opponents in the Moscow-Kyiv continuing war. Thus in the ever degenerating grim scenario where no end to the continuing war looks in sight, the world today stands on a nuclear volcano which may blast any day with the slightest spark set on fire by any nuclear power.

Soft Power Diplomacy in World Politics in the 21st Century / Chauhan, Bharti ; Singh, Saurabh   Journal Article
Bharti Chauhan and Saurabh Singh Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract It has always been important to utilize power in international relations. Although hard power dominated the primary process for many years, soft power emerged to explain the complex interactions between states and how states use non-coercive means to influence global actors. Late in the twentieth century, Nye promoted the idea of attraction over assertion. “Soft power” has long been an important diplomatic tool in international relations. In recent years, terror attacks, economic crises, mass migrations, climate change, and infectious diseases like COVID-19 are giving it a new meaning, which may explain why some areas have been successful in managing all issues including the epidemic while others have had difficulty. A crucial indicator of how nations, or regions within them, will perform during economic reopening, especially if they are affected by the unbalanced economic situation, mass migration and additional COVID-19 cases.

Unveiling Realist Explanations: Mearsheimer’s perspective on War in Ukraine / Dar, Muzammil Ahad   Journal Article
Dar, Muzammil Ahad Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The realist explanations surrounding the origins of Russia’s war against Ukraine, specifically John Mearsheimer’s assertion of western responsibility, have sparked controversy. Realism, including its more specific offensive sub-school, presents a wide range of contrasting interpretations, depending on the actors studied and the characteristics attributed to them. Similar to classical realism, structural realism is based on underlying assumptions about human nature. To elucidate these assumptions regarding the behaviour of states and their leaders, the article explores key components of structural theory, such as power differentials, rational interests, and the perception of states as unified actors. It establishes connections between these concepts and fundamental emotions like fear and anger.
