Summary/Abstract |
This article examines the Afghan transformation that has been manifesting itself in such spheres as security, politics, and the economy. It is fed by the withdrawal of the international forces from Afghanistan. But, according to the author, this process, which is of an all-encompassing and systemic nature, is having a direct effect on the key aspects of society's vital activity, as well as, due to Afghanistan's particular geopolitical position, on the situation in Central and South Asia. Political and ethnic fragmentation is the main component in the current internal Afghan situation.

Summary/Abstract |
Many problems that Afghanistan faces today are rooted in the legacy of its relationship with the international community. Weaknesses in governance, poor institution-building, absence of democracy, problems relating to its role in the war against terror and lack of accountability in foreign aid usage are some.

Summary/Abstract |
Afghanistan has turned into one of India's most complex foreign policy challenges -with conflicting regional and extra regional players upping their stakes in the country. With barely a year left for the international community's retreat from Afghanistan, there is serious concern over the shaping up of economic, social, cultural and political trajectories therein. Finding common ground with the Taliban has become increasingly elusive and neither the Afghan army nor the political clan is showing any convincing signs of the capacity to assume responsibility for security and integrity of the country.

Summary/Abstract |
In 2001, fearing ethnic strife, the international community pushed for a strong central government in Kabul. But such fears were based on a false reading of Afghan history and fostered a system of regional and ethnic patronage. To correct matters, the United States should de-emphasize Afghanistan's ethnic fault lines and push for more devolved and inclusive governance.

Summary/Abstract |
This article proposes a model for assessment of peacekeeping operations. Peacekeeping operations began in 1948, under the authority of the United Nations in order to provide and sustain a peaceful environment throughout the world. International organizations such as the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the African Union undertake peacekeeping operations in different geographical regions of the world. However, they lack some aspects of the assessment process. There were studies conducted previously in order to determine the principles of the assessment process of peacekeeping operations but none of them presented a comprehensive solution. Therefore, in this study, a clear, comprehensive and detailed assessment model was proposed, which may be applied in future peace operations and shed more light on the subject for future researches.

Summary/Abstract |
With the ongoing stalemate on the Israeli-Palestinian bilateral track, all who actively seek peace still see the Arab Peace Initiative (API) of 2002 as a potential point of departure for breaking the impasse, contingent on the Israeli government’s readiness to accept the API as a basis for discussion. The draft United Nations Security Council resolution circulated by France refers to the API; there are reports that the United States may be developing a new API-based plan for peace; and the European Union has shown interest on many occasions in moving in that direction. Many Israeli parties have developed API-based plans for peace such as MK Yaakov Peri (Yesh Atid), the Zionist Camp, Meretz and others. Even Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman wants to distort the API’s content by calling for normalizing relations with the Arab countries without withdrawing from the Palestinian and Arab territories occupied in 1967.
