Air Power: future challenges and emerging roles / Kukreja, Dhiraj   Article
Kukreja, Dhiraj Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract From the end of the last century, it has been seen that the nature of war and armed conflict has been changing significantly, primarily due to two reasons, namely, the constantly evolving geo-political equations; and the unparalleled developments in technology, which were once considered to be a figment of the imagination. The world order today is changing at a rate that may be termed as illusory. The pace of the change may be comparable to the times that followed the defeat of Napoleon in 1815 and the defeat of Germany and Japan at the end of World War II in 1945. These changes, coupled with the advancements in technology, have significant implications on the nature of war, and, hence, national strategy, military strategy and force structure.

Change in the nature of warfare with aerospace power / Kukreja, Dhiraj   Journal Article
Kukreja, Dhiraj Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Publication 2014.
Summary/Abstract There is nothing more difficult to carry out, nor more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to handle, than to initiate a new order of things - Machiavelli There has been a continuing transformation in the art and science of war ever since the aircraft was first used as a weapon of war, and then with the adoption of technological excellence. The use of the third dimension to enhance military capabilities had developed and settled during World War II. Gen Eisenhower put emphasis in his words when he stated, "The Normandy landings were based on a deep-seated faith in the power of the air force in overwhelming numbers to intervene in the land battle." Ever since that era, aviators, the world over, have been putting forth their case that air power should hold centre-stage in any war.

Make in India - Indian style / Kukreja, Dhiraj   Journal Article
Kukreja, Dhiraj Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The vibrant defence industrial base of DPSUs, OFs and R&S that has existed for decades has not produced the desired results; though there has been success in many fields, predominantly in space ventures, defence manufacturing is not one of them. A low plateau has been maintained in gaining self-reliance in defence production, the reasons for which are many. Can India usher in an era of transformation and self-reliance indefence production with the Prime Minister's call for make in India supported by the introduction of new policies, thus leading to a shift in focus from being import-dependent to a global exporter in its own right? the answers to this and other questions can be found only if all facets of the problem are examined.
